It was only 3 miles.
Think back on your most memorable road trip.
I grew up in a family where we took lots of road trips for our vacations. My parents were pretty close to their own siblings and I grew up with awesome cousins! Living on the East Coast (tri-state area) it wasn’t uncommon to travel to Florida (mostly for Disney) or to Maine to visit booth bay harbor. It’s fair to say that we did a decent amount of road tripping in the back of my grandfather’s red station wagon! You know, where the “trunk” seats face backwards and the wagon door weighs 1000 lbs. Even though I have such great memories on so many memorable road trips, the trip that I remember most was only 3 miles. And it was the day we got to bring my son (who was 2 years old at the time) home from the hospital. He had been there for 56 days straight. It was the beginning of his 3 year cancer treatment expedition. January 8, 2019 he was diagnosed with leukemia. He was so sick the first few months that we couldn’t go home.
And even though I have years of memories the most memorable road trip was that one home.
