I feel like this is a trick question.

·

Are there any activities or hobbies you’ve outgrown or lost interest in over time?

I am at the age now where my brain is starting to associate myself with that halfway mark through life. So, in that way, I automatically laughed at this question. Because my life is full of hobbies I’ve outgrown, or actually just got bored with and stopped.

I am late diagnosed ADHD/OCD. I’ve always had my share of anxiety/panic but now I’m able to give a name to some of my why’s.

Then thinking back to being a kid I remembered how much I loved having an opportunity to try many activities.

I was a dancer. Ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics, clogging, hip hop, etc. From the time I was three years old my mom put me in ballet because it was recommended by my pediatrician. My hips were turned slightly in and he said it would help with opening them and my posture. I’m not sure anyone else remembers wearing baby shoes that were attached to a metal bar? I wish I had a picture handy.  Outgrew that as a teenager.

I played the clarinet in elementary school.

I played soccer. Lost interest I guess. I was a ref for a while and even coached my oldests soccer team. I think they were 4.

I was really into roller skating growing up. All night skates, anyone?

I was a girl scout. I’m not too sure how long this lasted but I have some memories of earning the patches.

I played roller derby and I still would if my body wasn’t turning on me.

I took 3, 8 week boot camps with the boot boogie babes. That was fun. And probably the last thing I did like that.

My sister and I took the line dance classes together.

One response to “I feel like this is a trick question.”

  1. I’m gonna come back and leave myself this comment. Because I should also celebrate the negative activities and hobbies that I picked up over the years but was able to leave behind. Go me.
