What jobs have you had?

My first job I needed a note from my parents to work during the school week. That job was at Domino’s Pizza. I’m not sure why I went for that job but I was there for years while I finished highschool and worked through college. It was kinda the perfect first job. Some days I made the pizzas and some days I delivered them. I even dressed up as the “Noid” and waved at people on the highway. Do you remember the 30 mins or it’s free deal? I just googled that and realized how unaware I was of the world at 15!

Then shortly after I picked up a second job. Blockbuster Video. Mid to late 90s. VHS rentals. Be kind and rewind! We used to be able to watch the new releases before they came out. Half baked was one of my favorite movies at the time.

Friendly’s Ice Cream. Have you had the Jim Dandy? I was a server for a bit along the way, too. Back when smoking was allowed in restaurants and the only thing separating the smoking and non-smoking sections was a wood screen. Basically everyone breathed in the smokers smoke. It was the same everywhere.

I worked as a jewelry designer for a company in Florida. I met great people and learned some awesome skills.

I worked for a small publication in St. Petersburg Florida. Assistant editor and stylist. So much work for such little pay. But SO MUCH LIFE experience and met some of my favorite people.

I started my own small business in 2008. I was looking for a gift for my oldest, who was about to turn one. 18 years later and I’m still making dolls (when I have time).

I know I’m forgetting places but it’s apparent that I didn’t have a specific career choice. I have a BFA and spent years just figuring things out.  Why can’t I try it all?!

I still don’t know why I feel like I’m not accomplishing anything “real”. I’m sure there’s some component of my personality poking at me in there.

Once I became a mom everything changed. At the same time my husband chose to become a firefighter and first responder.

The most recent jobs that I have had time for are mostly voluntary. Peer support specialist. Peer support parent. I sit on the BOD for a local nonprofit. I’m a FB moderator for a Mom’s of kids with DS and cancer group.

I also spend my time researching disability rights for my son and trying to decipher what’s happening with our country.
