What change, big or small, would you like your blog to make in the world?
Just a view. A glimpse. Because I still believe that humans are inherently good. I still believe that I can borrow a cup of sugar from my neighbor and I can share my view of the world through my eyes. Which is a lot. Because we are all on our own journey and I want to share with the world….as well as learn from all of you. Even if it’s just one person who has this “fresh perspective” and can see what I see, then that’s a real connection.
We have so many levels of our life that we could and should talk about and most people don’t. We have become a world caught up in generational trauma. We are the product of what has built up over years and years of oppression and the flood gates are open to let the hate in, not out.
We know we can’t rely on history repeating itself meaning anything anymore. It’s obviously not a lesson being pushed right now. Learning the truth about the world and my place in it, evolves daily. But one thing I’ve learned over the last 9 years is not to get too comfortable in life. Since having my youngest son I have had to navigate Down syndrome, pediatric cancer, autism level 3, ADHD (I also got a late diagnosis myself!), and have two more kids. Navigating my spouse’s firefighter schedule. My oldest started college. We went through cancer treatment during COVID. I had my last kid at 38 years old, which is considered geriatric. Then by 40, I had gone through menopause and was told it was from stress. And here I am 6 years later with no real answers about my health but a new perspective on the health care system.
So, in my contribution to the world I want to offer the perspective of being me. If you think about it, that is all one can truly offer. Their own experiences. I want to navigate the world together. With everyone. I don’t know what that would look like or how that would ever work, but imagine if everyone you met became a friend. Even if only a friend for a day! Imagine what we could learn from each other. Imagine all of us humans accepting all of the kinds of humans. Imagine putting your learned perspectives down and paying more attention to the world. To problems that don’t concern you. To our friends and loved ones who are suffering right in front of us but no one is coming to their rescue. We all need to rely on each other.
And that also takes each individual one of us, to be honest and open to all the fresh perspective we can get.
Also, no one told me how bad your body falls apart by 46! Wrinkles, grey hairs, awkward selfies, bruises from riding roller coasters with my kids. It’s great.
